When a bone is broken or a fracture occurs, the force exerted against the bone is stronger than the bone can bear. This disturbs the structure and strength of the bone, leading to pain, trauma, loss of function and sometimes bleeding and injury around the site.

WHAT ARE BROKEN BONES OR FRACTURES?

  • swelling, bruising, or bleeding

  • intense pain

  • numbness and tingling

  • broken skin with bone protruding

  • limited mobility or inability to move a limb or put weight on the leg
